About Us
At Ynystawe Primary, we are all one big family: pupils, staff, parents, carers, governors, the community and the local authority, working together to raise our children and prepare them for their lives ahead. We believe that when a child joins our school, their whole family joins our village, and together we create the environment every child needs to thrive.
We have adopted the book; "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child" as our school book. We all agree that by working together, and by sharing the same values, we can give our children the best possible learning opportunities and experiences while they are with us.
We aim to create a nurturing learning environment where children come in happy in the morning and go home bursting with excitement about the learning experiences they have had that day . To make this vision real, we embrace a pedagogy that prepares children for the test of life, not a life of tests. We want parents to feel confident that their child is growing not only academically, but emotionally, socially, and creatively, ready for a world that demands curiosity, courage, and adaptability.
We aim to develop key skills, not only in subject areas but also those essential for happy, successful and fulfilling daily lives, thus developing the whole child. Building on this, we place great importance on nurturing independence, problem‑solving, collaboration, listening and creativity through play‑based learning and inquiry‑led experiences. These approaches allow children to explore freely, follow their fascinations, and ask big questions about their world — because big questions lead to big learning.
We believe in giving children opportunities to take responsibility and measured risks, to develop their independence and resilience and to make decisions that will affect themselves and their peers positively. Through rich, meaningful experiences, our pupils learn to trust themselves, work with others, and see challenges as opportunities. They become confident thinkers who are not afraid to wonder, investigate, imagine, and dream.
Together we learn key values that will guide our children in the way they lead their lives. We are passionate about developing curious minds and kind hearts; children who believe in themselves, understand their strengths, and feel empowered to shape their futures. We support our children to grow in self‑belief and to see clearly what they are capable of.
